First Messaging Platform to Achieve ISO 27018
San Francisco, CA - June 16, 2016 - ChatWork, Asia’s leading business chat platform, today announced that it has acquired the international standard ISO 27018 certification in the protection of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) on the Cloud. ChatWork is the second company in Japan to be granted this certification and the first business chat platform to pass this rigorous compliance certification. This certification demonstrates how secure and reliable ChatWork is by ensuring personal information is protected from unauthorized access by third parties, along with proving that ChatWork has a protection system for internal control, including: the organization, management system and internal processes.
ISO 27018 is a third-party certification in information security and it is considered the standard for information security management systems. It was developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as the first international code of practice that focuses on protection of personal data in the cloud. It is based on ISO information security standard 27002 and provides implementation guidance on ISO 27002 controls applicable to public cloud PII. It also provides a set of additional controls and associated guidance intended to address public Cloud PII protection requirements not addressed by the existing ISO 27002 control set. Other companies to receive ISO 27018 certification include: Microsoft, Amazon Web Services and Dropbox.

ChatWork also considers and implements additional measures such as compliance with laws and guidelines for servers in which personal information is stored and installed for each country it is operated within.
